Alkemaize

We create games that we hope will inspire, educate and uplift our audiences while challenging their perceptions. Our current focus is on an ECD audience, creating a game from an animated book of a similar title. Our mission is to create African games with little-known protagonists (historical or imaginative) of African descent for a young audience where we put entertainment ahead of the learnings of the game. Through our children’s games, we hope to widen the strata of young female gamers across the globe. Our current game, Rapz! is based on a book called Rapulani which our sister company published in 2021.

Our Progress and awards related to the project includes:

*Shortlisted for the Digital Lab Africa 2018 

*Runners up at Cape Town International Animation Film Festival at the road to Annecy competition. Rapulani! was awarded a prize to go to Annecy and pitch as part of the South African Territory Focus.

*Rapulani was one of 10 winners at the GEP Creative Industries pitching booster 

*Rapz the game wins 3rd prize in the Pan African AALCup

*Rapz wins a place in the Spielfabrique CoProduction incubator.

*The team working on Rapz are nominated for the esteemed Game Dev Heroes awards 2023!
